Spectacular murders, conditioned deaths and massive wakes, in Córdoba, Argentina, in the 1970s

This article arises from ethnographically investigating the corpses of people murdered for political reasons in the 70s in Córdoba, focusing on the way of constructing the “other” as the “enemy” based on the practices at the time of death. referring both to their physical “elimination” and to the writing around them. I am interested in showing how these practices were “translated” in the newspapers of the time, in Córdoba, from considering a series of “spectacular” murders, massive wakes and conditioned deaths, produced by the actions of the repressive forces trying to respond to the following questions: In what ways were people linked to traditions of political militancy killed in the 70s in Argentina? Who were those dead that became “emblematic” through processes of “consecration”? What rituals were configured around those dead?
